South Toledo Bend State Park

South Toledo Bend State Park is the perfect place to hike, bike, fish,or go swimming. Sprawled over 1,000 acres, this park has become a favorite of generations of Louisianan and Texan families, as well as those from further afield.

At 1.5 miles, the Hippie Point Hiking Trail is a safe and enjoyable way to experience the natural wonders offered by the state park.

The Visitor’s Center Museum has an observation deck with a lovely view of the lake. It’s got dioramas and other displays that illustrate the area’s vegetation and wildlife. The museum hopes to increase public awareness on the importance of indigenous species and how they affect the environment.

Adventurers can take their RVs on 55 sites, all provided with water and electrical connections. Five camp sites are available for those who would like to pitch their tents in areas of the park overlooking the water.

There are 19 cabins by the shoreline. Each cabin fits 8 people and has fullkitchen and bathroom facilities. There are shower and laundry areas available as well. Picnic tables and grills can be seen near the cabins and all over the park.

As a nationally recognized location for bass fishing tournaments, the reservoir is a great place to catch fish or just enjoy the quiet. You can also catch catfish, bream, and white perch in the waters of South Toledo Bend State Park. Or you can simply dive in; the water’s fine.

Although the park is a pet-friendly facility, it does not allow pets in any of the buildings, including the cabins and lodges. Smoking anywhere in South Toledo Bend State Park is also prohibited.
